Albert Kibor to spend three years in prison

A son of the late Uasin Gishu tycoon Jackson Kibor will spend three years in prison without an option of a fine after an Eldoret Court found him guilty of assaulting his step mother l Eunita Kibor Youngest sister.
Albert Kibor stared at the Presiding Magistrate Peter Areri as in disbelief he read the sentence to him in a session that took less than five minutes in the court that was packed to capacity.

Albert, who was represented by lawyer Maina Maathai, was convicted and jailed after the court ruled that the prosecution had proven its case against him in an incident where he was accused of causing grievous harm to Faith Jemutai.
The late controversial tycoon cum prominent cereal farmer left behind four widows among them Eunita who is the youngest wife and 29 children who include Albert.
In a surprise tune of event, none of his family members including his step brothers and sisters was in court to stand with him.
The charge sheet stated on diverse that jointly with another person not in court, he assaulted Faith Jemutai occasioning her actual bodily harm.
He committed the said offence on March 8,2025 at Kibor building located within Eldoret town central business district in Turbo sub county Uasin Gishu County.
In his mitigation Albert pleaded with the Magistrate to have mercy on him saying that he has never committed any offence and that the assault charge he was linked with was the first one since he was born.
“Your honor, I plead that you hand me a lenient sentence with an option of a fine since I have the first offender and I have never engaged in any criminal activity in my life, even the community where I come from can attest to you that I am a peaceful citizen,” argued Albert.
Albert further told the court that he has a wife and children who solely depend on him for their upkeep adding that if send behind the bars, they are bound to suffer in his absence in their lives.
He also brought to the attention of the Senior Principal Magistrate about his mother’s sickness saying that he was the only one who provides money for her medication in the hospital and upkeep.
“Your honor, I never assaulted the complainant as she claimed during the trial when she testified against me as an innocent of the charges leveled against me,” added Albert.
Jemutai narrated to the court how she was attacked and assaulted by Albert at Kibor who was in the company of another man at Kibor building where her elder sister has employed her caretaker of the multi-million shillings property.
She said that Allbert stormed the building and confronted her while demanding to know what she was doing with the property of his late father.
“Albert stormed the building as I was attending the tenants and ordered me to get out of his late father’s building arguing that I had no business being there and when he resisted he beat me and uprooted my hair in the head,” recounted Jemutai.
