I almost quit my athletics career – Amos Kipruto

Amos Kipruto, the former London Marathon champion, has revealed that at some point he almost ended his athletics career.

After his 2022 London Marathon victory, Amos has struggled a lot to remain on top of his game and to remain relevant on the global stage, sometimes forcing him to think about quitting the sport.

“My poor performance was caused by the series of injuries he had. and in 2023”, Amos revealed. He was in action at the London Marathon again, but this time around, failed to finish the race.

Kipruto also competed at the Berlin Marathon later that year, where he went on to finish distant seventh as Eliud Kipchoge claimed top honors.

Luck locates him in 2024, after he bounced back and claimed third place at the Chicago Marathon, sparking hopes of dominance once again.

Amos Kipruto, while interviewed on one of the TV stations, expressed gratitude to the Chicago Marathon organizers for allowing him to showcase his talent and race in their 2024 edition of the race as he admitted that he had to put in extra effort.

“My biggest interest now is to compete in the World Championship that will take place in Tokyo, Japan,” Kipruto says.

He also believes he is ready to compete at the World Marathon. Majors and organizers should not deny him an opportunity if he expressed interest.

“I’m ready for any opportunity. that comes my way…If any major marathon will allow me to enter a race, I’m also ready,” he shared.
