Lagos, Nigeria — July 2025.
In a moment that highlighted Kenya’s rising leadership in strategic procurement, Dr. John Ngeno was honoured at the prestigious Africa Procurement & Supply Chain Summit & Awards 2025, held at the Oriental Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The annual summit, now in its 7th edition, brought together top industry leaders, government officials, and supply chain experts from across the continent under the theme “Driving Impact through Innovation: The Future of Procurement & Supply in Africa.”

Dr. Ngeno, who currently serves as the General Manager of Supply Chain and Logistics at Kenya Power, was recognized for his outstanding contribution to advancing transparent, efficient, and innovative procurement processes not just within Kenya, but as an inspiring model for the region.
Speaking during the award ceremony, summit organisers praised Dr. Ngeno’s forward-looking leadership style, which has seen him champion digitization, ethical sourcing, and capacity building within the public sector supply chain space. His efforts have been credited with strengthening accountability and driving cost efficiency in major infrastructure and energy projects.

“Dr. Ngeno represents the calibre of procurement leaders Africa needs today—those who see supply chains not as mere back-office functions but as strategic levers for development and good governance,” said Akin Naphtal, CEO of InstinctWave, the organisers of the summit.
In his brief acceptance remarks, Dr. Ngeno dedicated the award to his team at Kenya Power and urged African nations to invest more in talent development and digital transformation to unlock the full potential of procurement as an engine for sustainable growth.
The summit also featured high-level discussions on the role of technology in procurement, strategies to combat corruption, and ways to promote local content across industries.
